The major highlight of Jasmine and Fiji’s adventures are the musical connections they make along the way.
Fiji often rests her head on the feet of new musician friends, while Jasmine rehearses fun, and sometimes, challenging repertoire with them.
It’s a two-fold benefit.
- It aids Jasmine’s progress as a nomadic musician with a big dream and teaches her to bridge gaps and connect through music.
- Also, it gives Jasmine the opportunity to give back to and promote more community and youth music programs.
If not for the fantastic youth orchestra in Jasmine’s town while growing up, she would have never known the beauty of communicating through music with others. Even while going from cheap motel to motel with her single mom and little brother for a year as a teenager, youth orchestra rehearsals and violin lessons were an escape from the struggles of everyday life. But most notable about the program, it was a diverse program with people of all ages and races.
That’s why Jasmine finds community and youth orchestras so crucial.
Jasmine rode through numerous towns throughout the U.S. and Canada so far that do not have music organizations and activities for people of all ages. Therefore, she seeks out music centers, and individual musicians to collaborate with, create videos, and inspire more people to support music programs in their communities around the world.
It can work in several ways. Jasmine will work with a few musicians from your community orchestra, youth ensemble, or another music program, and learn one piece of repertoire to record video and place on her social media. The video will also serve the purpose of trying to raise money or spread awareness.
You can also help Jasmine to further progress in her studies as a violinist, inviting her to solo with your community orchestra, either in a formal concert or just to record a video while she’s in town. The video will include a link for potential donors to make contributions to the orchestra.
Jasmine does this work for free and does not charge any fee for creating the videos.
